Obituaries: Earl Stone

The passing of a longtime member and friend, Earl R. Stone

Age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ypsilanti, Michigan. He was born on February 1, 1961, in Garden City, Michigan to Earl and Elsie (Rode) Stone. Earl graduated from Schoolcraft College in 1979 and on March 28, 1981, he married the love of his life Ann Weaver. They celebrated 40 years of marriage just this past March of 2021.

Earl worked for over twenty years at Axis Engineering in Dundee, Michigan. As a Metal Maker, anything to do with modeling metal, he could make it or fix it.

Earl was also a member of the Maybee Sportsman Club and enjoyed the outdoors, especially shooting trap, camping, and spending time with family and friends. His favorite pastime was fishing. He was an avid fisherman and always had great fishing tales to share.

Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, sons and grandchildren.

Besides his wife Ann, he is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law: Scott of Milan, James (Courtney) of Milan, David (Kimberly) of Newport, Michael (Mariah) of Bay City, ten grandchildren: Jayda, Trenton, Rileigh, Tanner, Kenadie, Madilyn, Addison, Remington, Mila, and Weston.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 3:00pm.-7:00pm. where an “open mic” service will begin at 7:00pm. followed by evening prayer. Private burial will follow at a later date. Contributions in his memory can be made to his wife, Ann Stone.
